To know how the universe is created, this particle physics research center is one of its kind right at the border of Switzerland and France. It is a place for the theoretical physicist, scientists working in the field of magnets, vacuum technology, astronomy. and other related fields. For others, you must have an intuition and an interest in science and what scientists doing to know or create the condition to know the conditions were at the time of Big Bang which can lead to solving different mysteries of science.

There is a visitors entrance and guided tours can be arranged also which is the best option with all the necessary explanation and asking questions which might be in your mind for long. One needs to get the information prior to visiting unless and until you are there to work on a research project.

It is about half an hour from the Geneva Cornavin railway station. Take a tram No18 from the station towards CERN which is also the last station of the route. The ticket cost CHF 3.0 one way or if you have a Geneva travel pass it will be a free ride. Most of the hotel does give this card so inquire before booking

Photography is allowed in most of the area for visitors. Depending on your interest 3-4 hours are good enough, a cafeteria is there if you want to eat or for a cup of coffee. A souvenir shop can also interest you. If you are on a short visit to Geneva than it is very important that visit only if you have an interest in science otherwise it is not a good idea to visit CERN.

A note from Visits Service

Thanks for your feedback Adnan! The cafeteria is only accessible to groups on guided tours which have requested the autorization to go there. There are vending machines in the Reception area with coffee, drinks and snacks.
