This was my favourite place in Switzerland.
We were staying in Montruex but I could not miss the chance to visit Cern
I booked the tour tickets on the Cern website which you need to do 15 days prior to the day you want to visit.
The tour is free and it was lead by one of the physicists that work there.
It was amazing and great for kids to learn all about the big bang.
You start with a 3D film all about cern then you are off for the tour ....
They take you the Atlas control room and explain what experiments they are doing and explain how it all started and how the LHC works.
The actual tour lasted about 3 hours and you can ask any questions.
After the tour you can go into the globe where they have an amazing interactive info .
They have little egg chairs you sit in and press the button and they tell you all about the big bang then there is a fantastic video show.
Then you have the micro info section which is like a musem of where you can see loads of actual parts that have been used over the years.
Everyone school child should be given the opportunity to visit Cern as this place just inspires you to want to know more .
