If the date you want to select is not selectable, it means that we cannot take more visitors at this date.
Considering CERN receives two times more request than it can address, it is advised to book your tour as early as possible.
Guided tours can be requested:
- 9 months in advance for groups (12-48 persons)
- 15 days in advance for individuals (1-11 persons)
Some of CERN's visit locations are located remotely from CERN Reception (up to 15km away). It is therefore important to organise transport. CERN has a limited fleet and capacity to transport visitors. If you have your own bus, we will use it during the visit to travel between visited locations. Please make sure the driver is aware and ready to drive you. Please note that the use of individual cars is not allowed. Only buses (from 20 to 50 seats) are allowed to enter our sites with guided tour visitors.
Tours are conducted exclusively by members or former members of the CERN personnel who do this activity on voluntary basis.
The general rule is that underground tours are extremely rare and limited to smaller groups.
The LHC tunnel can never be visited.
Only experimental caverns can be visited during LHC shutdowns.
But there are many interesting places to be visited above ground.
Final programme of the tour is decided at the last minute to take into account operational and safety constraints and cannot be confirmed in advance.
